The Round Rock Woman's Club hosted their annual Soup & Bread...and More luncheon on Friday, February 11, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Round Rock, Texas. Co-Chairs Belen Thorne and Melissa Kriegel report another year of tremendous community support for this event. Almost 800 lunches were served!  This year's theme was western with a menu of chili, gourmet salad, artisan bread, and cheesecake or  brownies/blondies. Those who ate in enjoyed the thematic decorations and fabulous silent auction. It was a time of great fellowship and great food.

Many Thanks to our 2009 Sponsors

Your support helped make our annual event a success in 2009.  Thank you!!!

History of Soup & Bread

Round Rock Woman's Club has been hosting this annual event for over 25 years. The purpose of the event is two-fold: to raise funds for Round Rock community projects and to host an opportunity for the community to come together. The fundraiser idea of our luncheon came from one of our charter members, Jeannie Quick. The women of our group prepared vegetable beef soup, cornbread, and cobblers for the dine-in meal, and a nominal fee was charged. This became a social event and people would come in ice storms and heat waves to eat vegetable beef soup and visit the entire 2 hours of our luncheon. We later added take-out orders and up until 2003, the women of our group continued to prepare and donate all of the food for the luncheon. In 2004 our annual event took on a much different look. Round Rock area merchants donated many of the luncheon items and wonderful merchandise we included in our first silent auction and raffle. We renamed this event to Soup & Bread...and More.

The net proceeds raised from this luncheon are given back to the Round Rock community through project donations. Each year worthy projects are reviewed and funded accordingly. Please visit our list of 2009 Projects!
